Development of a high-performance and low-noise heating, ventilation, and air conditioning plug fan through airfoil optimization 익형 최적 설계를 통한 고성능 저소음 실외기 플러그 팬 개발

Abstract

In recent years, the demand for high-performance and low-noise plug fans in large-scale HVAC systems has been increasing. This study performed an optimal design considering the spanwise-varying three-dimensional geometry of plug fan blades. A fan performance tester was first constructed to experimentally determine the operating point. Subsequently, the validity of the numerical model based on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), using a Virtual Fan Performance Tester (VFPT), was verified by comparing its results with the experimental data under identical conditions. The design optimization was carried out by selecting the wrap angle and lean angle as design variables, based on a two-factor, three-level full factorial design. Subsequently, Response Surface Methodology (RSM) was applied to derive the optimal blade geometry with a focus on improving pressure performance. The optimization results demonstrated improvements in flow rate and efficiency, as well as a reduction in noise levels.

최근 대형 냉방 및 공조 시스템에서 플러그 팬의 고성능화와 저소음화에 대한 수요가 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 플러그 팬 블레이드의 span 방향으로 연속적으로 변화하는 3차원 형상 특성을 반영하여 최적 설계를 수행하였다. 팬 성능 시험기를 구축하여 작동점을 도출하고, 동일 조건에서 수행한 전산유체역학(Computational Fluid Dynamics, CFD) 기반 가상 팬 성능 시험기(Virtual Fan Performance Tester, VFPT) 해석 결과를 실험과 비교하여 수치해석 모델의 타당성을 검증하였다. 최적 설계는 감김각과 기울기각을 설계 변수로 선정하여 2인자 3수준 전수 실험(Full Factorial Design)과 반응표면법(Response Surface Methodology, RSM)을 적용하여 수행하였다. 최적화 결과, 유량 및 효율 향상과 함께 소음 저감 효과도 확인되었다.
