Abstract

Korea Acoustic Measurement in the Arctic Sea in 2024 (KAMA-24), an acoustic measurement, was performed to understand the characteristics of acoustic propagation by the influence of sea ice in the Arctic Ocean. KAMAS-24 was conducted in August 2024 near the Chukchi Sea and the East Siberian Sea in the Arctic Ocean. In this experiment, the acoustic transmission loss was measured in the area covered by sea ice. First, we analyzed acoustic transmission loss by the frequencies and the depth of the acoustic source. Next, we estimated arrival angle fluctuation from beam angle measured using mid-frequency transmitter and vertical line array at medium distances. The fluctuation of arrival angle caused by the change in the distance between the source and the receiver at medium range was large in the Refracted Surface-Reflected (RSR) paths strongly affected by sea ice and relatively small in the Refracted Bottom-Reflected (RBR) paths weakly affected by sea ice.

북극해에서 해빙의 영향에 의한 음파전달 특성을 파악하기 위한 실험인 Korea Acoustic Measurement in the Arctic Sea in 2024(KAMA-24)을 수행하였다. KAMAS-24는 2024년 8월에 북극해의 축치해와 동시베리아해 해역에서 수행되었고, 이 실험에서 해빙 해역의 음파전달손실을 측정하였다. 먼저, 중거리에서 중주파수 음원과 수직선배열센서를 이용하여 측정한 음파전달손실을 계산하고 송신 주파수와 음원의 심도별로 음파전달손실의 차이를 분석했다. 다음으로, 빔출력의 빔각으로부터 추적한 도달각의 변동을 분석하였으며 송신기와 수신기의 거리가 달라지면서 발생한 도달각의 변동은 해빙의 영향을 강하게 받은 Refracted Surface-Reflected(RSR) 경로에서 크고 해빙의 영향을 약하게 받은 Refracted Bottom-Reflected(RBR) 경로에서는 비교적 작게 나타났다. 중거리에서는 특이한 구조를 갖는 해빙 하부에 음파가 반사되면서 해빙의 거칠기 영향을 받은 도달각의 변동폭이 크게 발생한 것으로 추정된다.
